A directory of businesses in Bangkok that owners can claim and upgrade, with enough real data on every listing to be useful on day one. The content had to come from a pipeline, not from hand entry, and the admin had to be usable by a non-developer.

What we built
- Next.js front end with Payload CMS and PostgreSQL behind it, all in Docker on one server
- Import pipeline from Google Places with cleaning, de-duplication, photo checks and category tagging, so a listing is never published half-empty
- Owner accounts with claim flow, Free, Pro and Premium tiers, approval emails through Brevo and automatic enrichment for paid tiers
- Static sitemaps, an index policy that keeps thin pages out of Google, and Cloudflare in front with the origin locked to Cloudflare IPs
- Mobile filter UX: category pills, area sliders and expandable lists tested on real phones
What we would do next
The site lost Google visibility in the May to June 2026 core update. The recovery work is an index diet, removing generated blocks and adding first-hand data. We wrote up what we learned on the blog.
